Laura Corina Sanders, soprano

San Francisco native Laura Corina Sanders is a rising soprano currently residing in Washington, D.C. Laura is a first prizewinner of the 2018 Lotte Lenya Competition, and an encouragement award winner in the 2018 Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions.

Laura is currently a Professional Development Program participant at Potomac Vocal Institute, where she studies with Elizabeth Bishop. She received both her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the Eastman School of Music, studying with Katherine Ciesinski. There she was featured in major roles in several Eastman Opera Theatre productions, including Lucette in Cendrillon, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, and the title role in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea. She was the first prizewinner of the 2017 Friends of Eastman Opera competition, and the 2017 Voice Concerto competition.

In 2019 Laura was a featured artist at the Clasclas festival in Vilagarcia, Spain, where she collaborated with Guy Braunstein and performed with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia. She was also featured at Baltimore Concert Opera in 2019 as The Foreign Woman in The Consul. In 2018 she worked as a Studio Artist at Wolf Trap Opera, where she performed the title role in Listen, Wilhelmina!, covered the role of Ilia in Idomeneo, and performed in recital with Steven Blier.

Other roles include Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro and Adele in Die Fledermaus with Oswego Opera, and First Lady in Die Zauberflöte with Berlin Opera Academy.
