Mission
The mission of our School and Family Concerts is to introduce every child in Skagit County to classical music, and to plant the seeds that may develop into a lifelong love and knowledge of orchestral music.
Research has shown that learning, listening, and performing classical music is often associated with success in other academic subjects such as mathematics, history, and writing.
School Concerts
Skagit Symphony offers this unique opportunity to Skagit County public school fifth-graders on a Thursday morning in January every year. There is no cost to schools or students to attend the School Concert, performed by the Symphony at McIntyre Hall. Our generous donors pay for all expenses for the School Concerts, including school bus transportation. Private school and home school groups that include grades 4 to 6 are invited to attend the School Concert, as well. To participate, all schools must reserve seats through our Education Program; if your school is interested, please contact execdir@skagitsymphony.com.
Family Concert
All ages are welcome to attend the Sunday afternoon Family Concert, although this event is most appropriate for children over three years old. A Skagit Symphony tradition for many years, this event begins with “Meet the Musicians” in the McIntyre lobby, an opportunity to talk with orchestra musicians and see their instruments up close. There is a nominal charge for this concert of $1 per child/student, which covers ticket reservations by McIntyre Hall. Adult cost is $10. Purchase tickets online, or call McIntyre Hall Box Office 360.416.7727.
